Project duration September 2013 - January 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The objective is to ´at the same time study and support innovative initiatives in a group media companies as they try to change to cope with the industry transition´. The research team has through action research methods supported the organizations in their development work. Two pilot/breakthrough projects and a process to define the innovation-/renewal need and simultaneously achieve a mandate for change have been driven supported by the research team.

Results and expected effects

The results for the organizations are the tests of different ways of working. According to internal opinions, they have had large impact (the evaluation is not finished). The pre-study also tested the conditions for trustfully working together with very promising results. A result of this is the joint application for step 2 of the study. The outcomes are decided by Vinnova. The insights from the pre-study have informed our research to the extent that we expect to publish on the findings.

Approach and implementation

The pre-study started two breakthrough projects where very challenging goals and a very short time frame were set. This demands a high degree of focus and a redefinition of established practices. Many organizational issues hampering innovation were identified. The pre-study also created a definition of the need for innovation and renewal. Through 92 interviews and workshops with 24 of their top managers, an analysis of how they can organize more innovatively to quicker move forward was created.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
