Project duration January 2012 - December 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of the third Stage of the center EXSELENT (Extremely Selective and enantio-selective nanoporous materials for Controlled sorption and catalysis) was to secure a long- term collaboration with our industrial partners and remain as a unit after the center´s stage 4. The goal is to establish EXSELENT as a world-leading center on porous materials, with activities that are important for both academic and industrial research.

Results and expected effects

The research program has three research areas that were selected based on competence, and the industry interest. Several of the individual projects involve collaborations among the research areas. About half of the projects have direct involvement from the industry partners, several projects with multiple industry partners. The academic research output of the center can be judged by the extensive publication record. When it comes to the direct commercial output of the center, we have contributed directly to three patent applications, and two commercialized computer programs.

Approach and implementation

The research program´s three areas were selected by judging the skills of the academic researchers and the interest of our industrial partners. Several of the projects in the center have involved several of the three areas. Around half of the projects have had industrial partners directly involved in the research, and a number of projects have had multiple industrial partners.
