Reference number
Coordinator LÄNSSTYRELSEN I ÖSTERGÖTLANDS LÄN
Funding from Vinnova SEK 250 000
Project duration November 2013 - August 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The goal and purpose of the project was to make the existing water-archives accessible through open geographical UI:s and through a digital archive. The means to make this information accesible have been created and the water archive from Östergötland is accessible. The continued task of scanning and publishing on a county level is under way as a part of ordinary activities.

Results and expected effects

The information of Östergötlands water-archive is available and the technical conditions to create a national system are in place. Information about the system have been sent to the GIS-contacts within each municipal and the interest in getting easy access to the system was large. Others who might find this interesting have not been contacted as the material has just been made available. A broader launch will be made when the information has been tested thoroughly to ensure that the service is stable.

Approach and implementation

The project has been worked on i close cooperation with archive-personnel and is based on a study that was made at the start of the projekt. Contacts within other countys showed that there are great variations between them. The time it takes to compile material that differs so much between countys has been underestimated. The implementation of new functionality in the existing IT-structure has proven more coplicated than expected and has therefore taken more time. The county administration boards has stopped during the elections which added to this delay as well.
