Open Innovation - Methods, models and tools for Co-creation and Communication

Reference number
Coordinator JOHANNEBERG SCIENCE PARK AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 500 000
Project duration April 2015 - September 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project has systematized and packaged selected experiences and knowledge on innovation efforts from five demand-owners (Johanneberg Science Park, Innovatum, Chalmers Area of Advance Energy, Västra Götalandsregionen and Science Park Borås), three service providers (IMCG, Ecoplan and Trendie) and a research group in western Sweden (Chalmers/Technology Management and Economics org./Managing in Between) and thus made the experiences and knowledge available to a larger group of market actors within Open Innovation.

Expected results and effects

The delivery from the project is twelve methods/models/tools in Open Innovation Collaboration and Communication. Demand owners are strengthened in their innovation capability through effective methods/models/tools produced, and gain credibility thanks to the scientific basis and referable practical experience. The supply of services increases as a result of suppliers expanding their portfolios with methods/models/tools referring to a scientific basis and real-life cases. In all, methods/models/tools can more easily and efficiently be accessed by other demand owners.

Planned approach and implementation

The project results were achieved by using action-learning methodology in the form of a series of workshops during which pilot versions of models/methods/tools were produced. Between the workshops the pilot versions were tested in real Open Innovation contexts and further improved in loops until final versions, based on the practical experiences, were formed. In the field of innovation management, the results of the project have already attracted interest and continue to spread.
