Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to design a free course on open data to increase awareness and knowledge about open data sources and how to get started. The goal was to reach all public organizations in Norrbotten with this course and to create sufficient interest and knowledge of the process to get started and that all participating players in the near future must publish at least one data set each.
Expected long term effects
Of the 18 invited organizations, 11 have participated in any of the five workshops been held in Kalix, Piteå, Gällivare, Luleå and online. Also, the person responsible for the regional digital agenda in Norrbotten has been involved in the work and has promoted the issue of open data in the ´Region Norrbotten´. Participants have brought the issue of open data back to their respective organisations and begun to promote it there. Which network and decision-making bodies to that should be used for future handling of the issue has also been discussed.
Approach and implementation
The course spanned about half a day and started with an introduction of open data: - What is open data is and why should they be involved - How open data can be used and further developed to e.g. develop new services. - how do you do it; where to publish data, standards, metadata, SKL´s guidelines, etc. During and after this discussions were held on each organisations specific situation in order to clarify any concerns, talk about possible forms of cooperation, as well as for and plan the way forward.
