Purpose and goal

The goals of the consortium are fulfilled, deliverables have been delivered according to time plan. Our impression is however that results may be perceived as incomplete/unclear, and require too high cost to introduce, to be directly applicable to increase efficiency of development projects. Our own goals are to a large extent fulfilled: we have gained knowledge, contributed to produce new knowledge and publish it, had the opportunity to directly analyze, study and improve our ongoing development projects, and interacted with leading companies and research institutes in Europe.

Results and expected effects

We think it is too early to fully evaluate whether the desired effects have been achieved, i.e. increased efficiency and decreased cost of certification. We (maximatecc) however see some promising ways of working for our own near future. It is also too early to state the project´s influence on future functional safety standards, but this have been an active work package in the project.

Approach and implementation

A large consortium gives possibilities to more substantial research and results, in a way that a single actor cannot achieve. The interaction with other partners is very valuable. Challenges with a large project: * Administrative overhead * Too detailed planning too early * Each partner has their own goals, thus a risk that some problem areas are of interest to only one partner, others feel that contribution is a burden. * Large project = high ambitions, but too much novelty of theoretical results increase the risk that results are perceived as too academical and not directly applicable.
