Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration August 2012 - May 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose of NRIA Flyg 2013 has been to describe how the Swedish aeronautics technology area can help Sweden to realise its innovation ambitions: high-quality public services, employment and global societal challenges and to describe the prerequisites for this. The objectives have been to formulate a number of concrete recommendations for how Sweden can become a sought-after player in international aerospace innovation, and to create and maintain an effective working model for the work.

Results and expected effects

Both objectives are met: the Swedish research and innovation agenda for aerospace has been produced (NRIA Flyg 2013); the production process has worked very well and is recommended to be made permanent in a coordinating forum for Swedish aerospace research and innovation issues NRIA Flyg Forum. The agenda´s recommendations will help Sweden maintain its technology edge and thus be eligible for international cooperation, which is essential in the future climate for innovation.

Approach and implementation

The project has been run as a set of workshops with different groups of actors: an internal working group responsible for key discussions and text generation; an external reference group discussing issues emerging from the working group and providing additional input; a steering committee with high-level representatives controlling direction and results. A project manager has moderated, compiled, edited and packaged the work. The setup has been used before in NRA Flyg 2010 with good results.
