Purpose and goal

The overall goal has been to increase awareness and Social Responsibility with regard to human trafficking issues in the tourism industry and for the prevention of these crimes.The aim is to use a norm critical approach in an innovation process and involve key players within the tourism industry to develop methods and procedures which support legal compliance and gender equality, cooperation and preventitive measures to combat the sex trade industry. The project has fulfilled its goal and involved several companies and sectors.

Results and expected effects

The arena has been developed into a West Sweden Partnership with exchange of experience and development work. Increased knowledge and awareness as to sex traficking, prostitution and insight in norms that prevent changes. The event Volvo Ocean Race has been a pilot event to test ideas, i.e, communication campaign with the taxi industry, information for volunteer activities etc. Interest, awareness and cooperation from research institution, Centre for Tourism. Positive response from media and the public with several articles, television and interviews.

Approach and implementation

Identification of key actors and dialogues. 3 round-tables organised in Gothenburg and one in Stockholm . Stakeholder dialogues and survey to all participants, awareness-raising activities for example from the police, prosecutors and the County Board . Dialogue methods and case studies to increase understanding of how to combat norms that prevent progress. Norm-critical innovation process generating multitude of ideas and insights , some of which have been tested during the pilot study . Collaborative innovation at various levels such as: organisation, sector and cross-sector.
