Purpose and goal
DP1 has aimed to increase knowledge in four areas of composite - tool technology, forming, deformation and high temperature applications. DP2 has increased the technology heights for automated sealing, Hexapods & topology optimized repair. A number of partners will have the opportunity to deliver within Clean Sky 2. DP3´s purpose was to demonstrate a safe way to use RPAS in non-segregated airspace, something that is difficult or even impossible today. Focus on DP4 has been on the reliability of the control systems and they have been evaluated by an Reliability Enhancement Program.
Expected results and effects
DP1 results are expected to increase competence in composite technology, which is expected to increase the competitiveness of partners. DP2 has increased technology development in automation and digitalization. The algorithms for detecting and avoiding collisions have been further developed in DP3. The system has been tested in simulations and flights with very good results. DP4 has developed and manufactured actuators and control electronics. The results demonstrate robustness and reliability that stand well against known requirements and have resulted in a commercial deal.
Planned approach and implementation
DP1 and DP2 have been divided into 4 work packages where each part has had its own objective and methods for verifying the result. Within the work packages, each partner has contributed with their competence. Two demonstrations have been completed. The development within DP3 was divided into 3 iterations where each iteration was tested. In parallel with the functional development, the DAA hardware was developed. DP4 has been conducted with formal review meetings such as PDR and CDR. Quality has been ensured through close cooperation with a leading international aircraft manufacturer.
