Purpose and goal

High accuracy and robust distance measurements with 3D cameras and LiDARs is a rapidly developing and enabling technology for robotics and autonomous vehicles. The goal has been to develop new innovative algorithms linked to these new sensor technologies.

Expected results and effects

Several new interesting algorithms have been developed in the project, which have potential to both improve performance of the sensors as well as how 3D point cloud data is post-processed.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was a collaboration between companies providing the latest hardware within optical 3D measurement and with researchers with a solid knowledge of the latest algorithm research. In this way, all parties have been able to develop their knowledge within the project.
