Purpose and goal

Sustainable development of Swedish industry requires major technology transitions, and fundamental to many of these transitions is the manufacturing and use of engineering materials. The proposed competence center will make use of large-scale research infrastructure (LSI) to develop understanding of engineering materials and processes to drive technology transitions widely in Swedish industry.

Expected results and effects

The project has gathered a very strong consortium representing important partners from industry, institutes, academia and infrastructures to jointly address important sustainability challenges using state-of-the-art methodology at large-scale infrastructures and complementary methods. This consortium has good conditions to contribute to significant technology transitions and create important innovations for the competitiveness of Swedish industry.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has consisted of various workshops and meetings within the consortium. In addition, a benchmark analysis has been carried out with other similar activities internationally. This is to ensure that the project has a leading international research profile and that the most critical needs from Swedish industry are addressed.
