My News - a cloud service with personalized news in a whole new way.

Purpose and goal

The pilot study would determine the need, the technical feasibility and if there were economic opportunities for our service. We were given clear indication that the need for the service exists and that the service is technically feasible to develop. The service also has a value in the form that it can charge for if you collect different types of sources. We also received important insights into the types of resources that are important to the target audience. Results and expected effects

New findings about the target audience was surprising such as the unexpectedly low loyalty and low interest for traditional news. Furthermore, a good insight into the challenges that remain (including ´The right contractor / partner´, ´Management of all the data,´ and ´The importance of the right content providers´).

Approach and implementation

Based on the project plan we gathered all project partners initially to go through the schedule, the work packages and expectations. We knew early on that the work packages had the parts needed to reach the goal. However, some work packages became ges larger than they were intended, for example, contact with content providers. This package was much more labor intensive and difficult than we imagined. Another challenge in the implementation was that our system developer ended his employment with us and we had to hire an outside consultant. This also consumed a lot of time.
