Purpose and goal
The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of combining a couple of specific functional glasses in one and the same insulating glass unit. Tests on the glass samples show high potential for using the glasses in the desired manner. One goal was to make a survey of existing patents in the world or competing products and technologies. The survey indicates no patent barriers or products combining the functions in this way.
Results and expected effects
The project shows that a new combination of functional glasses should be possible to realize. As a direct result of the project GFAB will proceed with further testing. If the latter proves successful, it will lead to a larger development project where prototypes of a few different products will be developed and prepared for launch on the market.
Approach and implementation
The project has been implemented and managed through frequent working meetings and discussions. GFAB has contributed with market considerations and requirements specifications, manufactured samples and performed tests of the glasses performance. SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden has been involved in both discussions, testing and patent search. Glafo The Glass Research Institute has acted as project leader and participated in the planning of tests, discussions and measurements.
