MOTION - MObile and digiTal AutomatION

Reference number
Coordinator CHALMERS TEKNISKA HÖGSKOLA AKTIEBOLAG - Produkt- och produktionsutveckling
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration November 2015 - May 2016
Status Completed
Venture The strategic innovation programme for Production2030

Purpose and goal

The aim was to have a flexible and efficient production of the product, this is by reducing the number of machines , reducing the number of components , reduced machine surface , document workflow and tasks, and that the learning period should be shortened. This has been demonstrated by reducing the number of stations from the current 10 to 3, the machine surface is estimated to be reduced by over 40 % , a detailed documentation of the work once done by AviX and different types of technologies work instructions have been tested by the company.

Results and expected effects

The project has been through demonstrations showed how both mobile automation can work , but also communication at stations and between stations and other systems. The mobile stations consists of different software and hardware for communications and different degree of automation , from completely manual tasks to data is done using collaborative robots. Other types of mobile automation has been tested , such as quick couplings for robots to be able to program and install the desktop environment.

Approach and implementation

The demonstrator has been made in two steps. In step 1 included the project in the course Automation , machine, Bachelor Chalmers. Students should evaluate current automation CEJN AB and then got together with AH automation, B & R Automation and teachers of the course come to automation solutions . Evaluation methods used are : HTA , DFAA , Dynamo ++ , Avixanalys and measurement of levels of automation . In step 2, modifications were made ; including prototypes, fixtures and tools through additive manufacturing, the solutions were evaluated and validated by industry.
