Purpose and goal

This prestudy has focused on the development and commercialization of monitoring systems for roof overloads for various buildings and different requirement levels of security. As shown in the final report the project has been implemented in accordance with the original aim and that the project objectives that have been formulated are met.

Expected results and effects

The outcome of the project is a business concept based on knowledge on how to use customized monitoring systems for roofs to determine what is critical to the individual building with its specific solution for roof and structural system and what should be recorded, how this should be done and when the system will ´alert´ to achieve the security against overload the property owner wishes. This requires a thorough analysis of the structure and the local load conditions and an understanding of the risks that are relevant to the present case.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has included studys of the various regulations that over time has been used for design of roof structures and available information about roof breakdowns. The market has been identified through analysis of official statistics and interviews with property owners and other stakeholders. Suppliers of suitable technical solutions for the alarm system has been identified and alternative strategies for continued development of a business concept has been analyzed. Finally, two pilot projects were initiated in parallel with the development of a preliminary business plan.
