Purpose and goal

The aim of Metis 1 was to design and establish a new form of triple-helix cooperation for ICT/eHealth in prehospital care. Further to compose a specific Project Handbook and cooperation principles for Metis Forum the virtual collaborative platform. In addition, initiating work on the basis of these principles, in order to, among other things identify and define a common project. If possible also apply for funds for this. Finally, search paths for long-term base funding for the Metis Forum. All of these objectives have been met, including base funding for 18 months.

Results and expected effects

Metis 1 has led to a national establishment of Metis Forum as a neutral triple helix collaboration platform. The planned Prehospital ICT Arena will strengthen this role further. The jointly defined project PrehospIT has the potential to become an important demonstrator for the national eHealth initiative, and have created important links to actors such as the Board of Welfare, Inera and FLISA. Overall, this means a future possible key role for national collaboration, innovation and development within prehospital ICT/eHealth, but also significant international opportunities.

Approach and implementation

Metis 1 has been led by a group with broad knowledge and experience in relevant fields. The work has rested on workshops serving as inspiration, support and information dissemination, as well as workpackages with designated workpackage leaders. The project´s nature has required a large number of parties where the contribution is important, but limited in time. This puts great demands on management´s commitment and capacity of flexible communication and coordination. A significant effort may be added here - often dispersed among different tasks in and outside the project.
