Purpose and goal
The aim of this project was to make a pilot study in preparation for an application in step 2 in the call ´UoH strategiska utveckling av samverkan´. Three areas, 1) Collaborative arenas for research and education, 2) Assessment of skills in external collaboration for appointment and promotion of lecturers, and 3) Collaboration assurance in education, were studied in the pilot study together with eight other universities. The pilot study resulted in three applications to Vinnova in step 2.
Results and expected effects
The goal for the entire project, pilot study plus step 2, is to increase the number of external partners, and achieve an escalation in collaborative research, challenge driven innovation, and collaboratively assured education. We foresee that the projects outlined in the applications MAIN, CARENA and ´Incubating for Public Innovation´ have the potential, if granted, to fulfil the project goals: to increase the number of external partners, and achieve an escalation in collaborative research, challenge driven innovation, and collaboratively assured education.
Approach and implementation
The project has energized the discussion internally at Malmö University as well as with other universities. For example, we have had discussions with other universities regarding strategic management of collaboration and how to develop guidelines for systematic review of external activities in study programs. This has led to a better understanding of how other universities work with knowledge exchange and collaboration. Additional activities around arenas were planned, but due to tight timelines, there was no opportunity to do so.
