Purpose and goal

The Spinneriet Youth Accommodation has been developing the idea of building a meetingpoint that aims to create effective opportunities for the integration of unaccompanied refugee children. By public events, networking, marketing and mediawork ´The Meetingpoint Spinneriet´ has engaged the local civil society and has reached to a god start in order to increase knowledge and collaboration in Ale municipality wich must be considered a pre-condition to work effective and sustainable with integration.

Results and expected effects

The activities of the meetingpoint; network and collective resources has lead to earlier language development, improved academic performance and the beginning of a network for unaccompanied refugees. There is yet a way to go to reach the impact we aim for. In the situation today, in Ale municipality, the numbers of refugees is constantly increasing the Spinneriet Meetingpoint is beginning to become an important platform to gather knowledge and to work preventively and effective towards sustainable development in Ale.

Approach and implementation

From a selection of work packages the project has successfully performed several co- events; the Ale municipality gala, coaching with School of Business, University of Gothenburg, mentioning a few. Activities has led to make visible the group of unaccompanied refugees, changes in attitudes and more meetings among fresh and established citizens in Ale. The meeting point takes the next step towards cementing a platform that produce effective and innovative ways to collaborate in Ale. More time and resources is needed to establish a sustainable and long-term activity and organisation.
