Meaningful Writing: Development of a Universal Digital Pedagogy and Writing Tool

Reference number
Coordinator Invigos AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration October 2014 - June 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project aims to radically improve digital writing tools, writing pedagogy and writing skills in school, while i) making students´ writing fun, instructive and meaningful, ii) providing better support to students with writing difficulties, and iii) redistribute teachers´ time to a more inclusive and personalized instruction. The project will result in better educated students. The project is well on the way towards this goal, as it has created a strong consortium, identified solutions with great potential, and produced a promising prototype.

Results and expected effects

The project has met its targets. It has accumulated need owners, entrepreneurs, researchers and experts. Together we have identified key technologies, analyzed solutions with great potential, and brought forth a solid plan for future development. In parallel with the consortium development and a technical feasibility study of language technology, Invigos has developed and tested a prototype of a writing tool.

Approach and implementation

The project collaboration has worked exceedingly well, because all actors share the project´s vision, and the actors have been selected to maximize complementary capabilities and minimize conflicts of interest. The steering committee - consisting of the coordinator and multiple need owners - has managed the project strategy, resource allocation and admission of new project partners. Completed work packages have involved at least two, and often many more, project partners.
