Project duration July 2013 - January 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The objective with the project MARI was to establish a common initiative across the media industry to long-term work for the industry´s development, as well as set a common understanding and agenda for a SIO (strategic innovation area). The project aimed to align the industry around this initiative and all parties have expressed their interest to participate in the coming cooperation. To generate a complete and well-founded Agenda for a SIO the work has to be continued over an extended period.

Results and expected effects

The project has resulted in a concrete view of a future research arena, defined research areas and deeper engagement by the projects parties and the companies and organisations they represent. Further the project has resulted in a stronger connection to the academia, and that the area around ´Democracy and Media´ would be a natural focus for the continued work. The effect of the project is a clear need of an extended pre-study with the aim to further seek legitimacy across the industry for the continued development.

Approach and implementation

The project has been conducted through three main tracks, The Arena, Democracy and Media, and Dynamic business models. The project participants have completed respective track in smaller groups and summarized in two reports. Legitimacy has been sought within the academy and industry with positive outcome and interviews have been documented together with a list of current research and development projects in the relevant areas. The selected working method based on individual talks and interviews have been the only feasible due to lack of common meeting and research culture.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
