Purpose and goal

Maker Tour is a mobile platform - a travelling inspirational workshop which can be moved around between different locations in Sweden, such as schools, shopping centers, libraries, festivals, and Science Parks. Maker Tour´s main task is to spread the maker movement´s spirit and idea across the country and have more children and young people to realize that they can create themselves and together with others. The primary target group is children and young people - tomorrow´s innovators, but also teachers and people who work with children and young people.

Expected results and effects

Maker Tour has attracted much attention especially in schools. A collaboration with the Region of Kronoberg and the project Mot Nya Höjder began and resulted in meeting 22 school classes, low-intermediate and high school. The cooperation with Mot Nya Höjder continues during 2017. Maker Tour has attracted two business partners Google CS First and Clas Ohlson in 2016 made it possible for the tour to visit around 20 public places where we would not reach otherwise. The tour has attracted two corporate partners for 2017.

Planned approach and implementation

The concept consists of a van full of exciting maker equipment and a tent, a mobile classroom. With the tour also follows at least two supervisors/teachers from the Museum. These can offer fun and ´ready-to-go´ maker activities for children and young people connected to electricity, creativity, the art of programming and problem solving. The content is tailored to the target group and local conditions. Schools are offered a certain type of activities while public places are offered other.
