Purpose and goal
The Gradewood project (2007-2010) was carried out as part of EUs WoodWisdom-Net Programme. The background was a number of unintended effects caused by the new standard for CE-marking of structural timber. The Gradewood results concern, e.g., the need for different machine settings for grading of coniferous timber from southern or northern Europe, respectively, and a new method for derivation of grading machine settings. The aim of the new project is to make the Gradewood results more easily available for the industry by means of a knowledge transfer day and a number of company visits.
