Purpose and goal
KIDS is an initiative to stimulate innovation and digitalization in the development of Swedish school. VINNOVA grant is intended to support Gold stairs (Guldtrappan) with 1) sub-project on assessment tests and feedback, and 2) sub-projects around digital learning resources, both run within KIDS project. The Gold Stairs Award goes to boards/local communities that work long-term and strategic based on national policy documents for a successful digital learning in school. It is awarded by the Foundation Yngve Lindberg´s Memory and partners, coordinated by the Foundation DIU.
Expected results and effects
Gold staircase 2016 has been awarded to six communities for digital school improvement. The proven experience grows, but accelerated knowledge sharing is needed. The sub-project of digital learning resources have been debating the need for quality digital learning resources for school equivalency. Teachers call for access to and knowledge of quality digital learning resources. The sub-project on the digitization of test and assessment has highlighted the experiences in other Nordic countries and opportunities. There is a growing realization of the need for experimentation.
Planned approach and implementation
The entire project has involved practitioners and government agencies, professional organizations, researchers and suppliers as well as representatives of the Parliamentary Education Committee. Experience has been debated and disseminated through seminars and conferences, videos, brochures and debate online. More effective and increased activity of shared experience, knowledge and development is needed. Professional-related R & D activities, knowledge building based on shared experience and analysis need to be formed, with the academy as a committed force.
