Purpose and goal

During the summer and autumn, Katla developed the propeller solution with several iterations and integrated these into the design of Katla´s aircraft. The solution means that the aircraft, which comes in two different sizes: as a drone and in the longer term, as an ultra-light aircraft, can now fly more efficiently, which reduces air resistance,, saves fuel and increases range.

Expected results and effects

The project has helped to increase Katla´s competitiveness and value, as we have been able to take the solution closer to the market, as well as providing relevant IP protection. The effects of this are a higher valued company, a product that is ready to be commercialized and integrated into drones and aircraft.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has carried out three main activities: the solution has been developed, iterated and validated through rapid prototyping and physical testing. Subsequently, the process for seeking IP protection for the solution has been completed and is ongoing, in collaboration with a patent office. Katla has also contacted a number of customers who have confirmed the interest in the solution, which has shortened the road to the market.
