Important results from the project
The purpose of this transition phase of the IBCA was to focus the programme activities to continue to support Swedish business playing a leading role in meeting the challenges of poverty. The specific goal was to enable the continuation of activities in at least 3-4 of the 6 sectors. We achieved this purpose and goal by transitioning our major activities from the IBCA into other activities to continue to provide support through a combination of other projects as well as business and member services, and will now focus especially on the agri-food, energy and water/sanitation sectors.
Expected long term effects
While we continue to support activities in the health, ICT and textiles and clothing sectors, our focus now is continuing to work towards the previously set ambitions in the following three sectors: Energy: Enable green energy access through inclusive business models for 300m people Agriculture / forestry: Improve the efficiency and income of 10m smallholders while enabling supply chains Water and Sanitation: Provide access to clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene solutions to 100m people This transition phase of the programme is enabling this support to continue.
Approach and implementation
Marking the final stage of the three-year IBCA programme, the IBCA transition phase carried out in 2017 allowed the major partners Inclusive Business Sweden and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden focus the activities in this field, and enable an ongoing continuing of these support and acceleration activities through a combination of other financed projects and direct-to-business services. While this process means that some activities and ambitions needed to be streamlined, we are now able to continue our work in the high-potential areas in an ongoing and sustainable manner.
