Funding from Vinnova SEK 3 000 000
Project duration December 2012 - December 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

This project addresses sensors and sensor systems, and especially digital imaging based on X-ray and infrared. The focus is on developing micro / nano-electronic key components spec detectors and image sensors of different kinds and then in cooperation with the companies build systems based on them. * Developed a linear microbolometer array (IR detector) that can be adapted to detect chemicals / gases. * Further developed an X-ray detector with isotropic detection of interest for the company ScandiDos. * Established cooperation on sensitive detectors in the near IR range.

Results and expected effects

To create growth in Swedish industry by developing new technology on the electronics hardware side -particularly detectors and image sensors. Drive projects to a system level where companies can take over and make products. Develop the area towards future industrial and societal needs. * The technology platform that has been built up will be to the benefit of the partners in the future. * A contact network has been established. * We have actively participated in Vinnova´s agenda-work around ´Smarter Electronic Systems for Sweden´ where partner companies have great interest.

Approach and implementation

The project was run with IMAGICs old member companies but has also opened up for new companies / business partners to create bridging to newer business. Contains both a generic research component and a more industry-oriented part. In addition, knowledge dissemination, seminars, etc. * Dividing the project into a more applied, industry-oriented part, and a more basic technology one, has worked excellently. * New business partners: Biocrine and StrainLabs. * We arranged a two-day conference ´Breakthroughs the sensor Technology´ which drew 120 participants.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
