Purpose and goal

The objective of the project was to commercialize SnowTiger, a poplar clone mix for Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea region. The following milestones were set: 1. To establish cost effective production of planting material; 2. To evaluate SnowTiger poplars, using scientific methods, in the climate in the Baltic Sea region; 3. To introduce SnowTiger clones to customers; 4. To summarize the information about SnowTiger in a brochure for customers.

Expected results and effects

The project has achieved all of the aforementioned milestones and is on track to commercialize the SnowTiger in Scandinavia and the Baltic region.

Planned approach and implementation

WP 1 Evaluation of establishment methods in R&D plantations - field studies. Purpose: To evaluate establishment methods of poplar plantations on different soils in the Baltic Region. WP 2 Evaluation of production methods of the planting stock. Purpose: To find reliable partners/nurseries able to deliver the plant material of good quality to the customers. WP 3 Evaluation of the product - the SnowTiger poplar clones - using scientific methods. WP 4 Development of business model for marketing SnowTiger in Scandinavia and the Baltic Region.
