Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Aim of the project was to visit Otto-Schott-Institute (OSI) Jena, Germany and to take part in the ´6th International Conference on Flow and Fracture of Advanced Glasses´. The goal was to plan for a research project VINMMER Academy Outgoing on high performance glass and glass surfaces for modern technologies. Furthermore to increase international cooperation and to be in involved in several EU projects in the future.

Results and expected effects

Sharafat Ali during his visit at the Otto Schott Institute found that there is a lot of interesting research in Prof. Lothar Wondraczeks research group that can benefit Sharafat Ali as researchers. The proposed project provided a basis to move forward with a project application to VINMMER Academy Outgoing about the high performance glasses. The results of the visit provided future collaboration with one of the world renowned institution in the glass technology.

Approach and implementation

Sharafat Ali has conducted two-week visit to the Otto-Schott-Institute (Jena, Germany) and also took part in the ´6th International Conference on Flow and Fracture of Advanced Glasses ( Weimar, Germany)´. During this visit Dr, Sharafat Ali met several renowned scientists in the mentioned field. A preliminary career plan was developed, for example, courses in non-scientific merit, scientific merit and research ideas for a full project. Now Sharafat Ali is planning to submit a full application for VINNMER Academy Outgoing.
