Coordinator Karolinska institutet - Innovationskontoret
Funding from Vinnova SEK 750 000
Project duration May 2012 - May 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

During the project period, project participants worked against the purpose of generating a high-quality application to EIT in the Healthy Living and Active Ageing theme. The interim targets along the way has been to build for this purpose the European consortium, identifying thematic areas of science, identify education needs, meet, and develop opportunities for innovation in collaboration with the participating companies. These targets are mainly fulfilled and the consortium now occupies a strong position in the competition to transform to a future KIC in this area.

Results and expected effects

The grant has given KI, KTH and Uppsala University the opportunity to develop cooperation with other Swedish players who wish to participate in the KIC. In addition, the University of Copenhagen joined the Swedish node and it thus turned into a Scandinavian node with a strong position in the European consortium. Furthermore, SP has been connected and the industrial relations expanded. A web-portal providing information on InnoLIFE was an expected result, but because the call is not available at the end of this period, this portal is not yet published.

Approach and implementation

A number of meetings / workshops in the European nodes have been implemented with the executive committee that decides on strategy and governance and with the specific working groups. Thematic working groups have been formed, and furthermore thematic groups working on education issue and innovation development are in place. The dialogue with the relevant stakeholders in and outside Brussels has been intensified.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
