Purpose and goal

Place for innovation! The title is ambiguous. How can innovation be given place; in the office and as time and space in collaborations, and your own calendar?The aim of the project is to develop activity-based offices and modern ways of working, so that they benefit from innovation management and organizational conditions for innovation.What will be highlighted in particular is how the conditions for innovation and innovation culture can be created with regard to innovation, time, space, team, cooperation, security, leadership and self-leadership.

Expected results and effects

The hope is that the project will lead to improved working methods to ensure innovation. How can the partner companies utilize and develop the opportunities that exist in the activity-based workplaces and the modern ways of working to promote innovation? The project aims at achieving knowledge and awareness about the importance of time and place. Furthermore, the importance of cooperation, team self-leadership and leadership. The project will generate research, as well as support for partner organizations´ development.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is strategically composed of partners to study the importance of place for innovation. Volvo Cars and Microsoft, which both thrive on innovation and the use of activity-based workplaces. The benchmark company Leesman focused on office strategy and the Stockholm School of Business programme "Lead Innovation. The area is complex, therefore multimethod is used. Anthropological study; interviews with key people; shadowing of employees; studies of virtual teams and remote leadership; benchmarking of workplace designs; as well as time and computer studies.
