Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to investigate the requirements for using IoT solutions in health and social care to increase the possibility for elderly and people with disabilities to remain living in their own residence and at the same time have a high quality of life. The project also wanted to prepare the organization for testing IoT solutions by gaining increased knowledge about them and the suppliers. It would also provide an in-depth understanding of the technical and organizational requirements for reaching maximum benefit of using IoT solutions. All objectives were met.

Expected results and effects

The project has generated an increased understanding and knowledge of the needs and factors that affect remaining residents. Furthermore, it has delivered increased knowledge about IoT solutions on the market and how these respond to identified needs. It has also made possible for future collaborations with suppliers as it has resulted in an expanded network. The project has provided a clear picture of the organizational and technical requirements to use IoT solutions. It has also provided in-depth knowledge of the IoT area and the opportunities that exist for the organization.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has consisted of four phases: Needs Analysis, Business and Market Analysis, Organizational Analysis and Plan. The first phase consisted of workshops with employees as well as interviews with patients and relatives. In the second phase, suppliers of IoT solutions were mapped and a couple of them participated in in-depth dialogue. The third phase consisted of workshops with employees in health and social care as well as employees within central IT & Digitalisation in the municipality. All phases were united in the last phase where a first draft of an Action Plan was produced.
