Food to feed through circular waste management in Africa

Purpose and goal

The aim was to examine the scope for loop-based feed production in Africa. Through interviews, we have demonstrated the need and the possibility for integrated solutions with fish plants in turn-key solutions. We see this solution as a clear possibility and have in a study provided examples of how the Burkina Faso environmental cycle can produce protein single cell protein at an acceptable cost.

Expected results and effects

Results were positive and we have a clear proposal for a technology solution that would enable animal feed production at a reasonable cost.

We conducted several interviews with the fish farmers and industry-people in the region.
