Purpose and goal
The testbed ELOV aims to be a unique resource with the capacity to simulate environmental stresses on passenger cars, trucks and buses. The testbed has not been established yet because the project has not succeeded in providing a detailed business model, including financing solution for construction and operation of the test bed. In summary, the ELOV project got as far as is possible under current conditions. Energy-efficient transport, reduce emissions and shorter lead times for the automotive industry is still very relevant objectives.
Expected results and effects
Collaboration between universities, industry and research institutes have been established, mainly through the joint work to develop a plan for research and innovation. A technical specification and the drawings produced during the feasibility study have been further developed. A business plan is available, but must be modified again before the business model will be strong enough. The plan for research and innovation will be used when ELOV partners apply for research projects in the area. Operation of ELOV was scheduled to start in 2016, but this will not be possible.
Planned approach and implementation
The ELOV test bed was first introduced in a pilot study within the VINNOVA program for test beds in environmental technology and supported by the Västra Götaland program for sustainable transport. Collaboration between industry, research institutes and universities has been established. Different groups have dealt with various issues; a management group with representatives of the participating organizations, a steering committee for strategic decisions, a technology group for the technical specification and a research group of the research plan.
