Purpose and goal

The project creates technical, business and structural solutions that enable large-scale electrification of commercial vehicles. The system that is being developed combines smart charging and energy storage with local production and contributes to a stable and more flexible electricity network that can better handle renewable energy. Svealandstrafiken´s bus depot in Västerås is the project´s pilot where the system in combination with innovative, circular and sustainable energy storage solutions offers demand flexibility and balance services to the electricity grid.

Expected results and effects

Through optimized charging of the vehicles´ in combination with stationary batteries reduce the power requirement when charging. Create advisory documents that facilitate procurement and design of electrified vehicle depots and investigate business models that take into account that batteries and vehicles have different life cycles. I dialogue with DSO and TSO design the system to be able to deliver balance and flexibility to the electricity grid. Use an obsolete bus battery as an energy storage. Pilot installation of sodium-based batteries that are environmentally friendly.
