Purpose and goal
The VIZTA project aims to develop sensor technology in the field of optical sensors and laser sources for 3D measurement at short and long distances. The project involves the development of demonstrators for the key applications vehicles (safety and self-driving), safety and protection, smart buildings, mobile robotics for smart cities, and industry 4.0. The aim of the project is the mass-production of cost-effective sensors for distance measurement for short distances (<25m), medium-length distances (25-100m), and long distances (> 100m).25m),>
Expected results and effects
For Veoneer, expected effects with the project are access to, and testing of, new components and system concepts for 3D measurement that can then be industrialized for the automotive market.
Planned approach and implementation
Define the requirements set for systems for 3D measurement during autonomous driving and systems for driver support. Define component requirements for the chosen system concept. Develop photonics components laser source, MEMS for scanning, and detector within the wavelength range of 1550 nm, which enables significantly increased transmitted laser power within unprotected eye safety class (class1). Develop test methods for repeatable testing of sensor sensing performance in situations relevant to autonomous driving and driver support functionality.
