Important results from the project
Evaluate IoT devices (GPS trackers) to detect and manage supplier and transport disturbances, as well as enabling better statistics on supply chain performance. And to integrate financial flows with the digital representation of the physical flow of goods. This is the basis for exploring smart contracts and micropayments to govern delivery and conditional financial transactions, insurance issues and customs.
Expected long term effects
A demonstrator has been developed where GPS data has been used as direct input to make a real-time liquidity forecast. This in turn is based on a blockchain-inspired architecture that will guarantee reliability and security when events in the logistics flow trigger financial measures, such as payments.
Approach and implementation
The input to the development work in the project has mainly been based on cross-functional workshops and interviews with Volvo Group. Where SEB, Midroc and Luleå have on several occasions met key people in logistics, production, information systems, business controlling, treasury and research and development. This has happened in iterations where partial deliveries have been presented to potential future users, such as treasury. .
