Project duration November 2018 - February 2019
Status Completed
Venture The strategic innovation programme Electronic Components and Systems:
Call Electronic Components and Systems. Research and innovation feasibility studies 2018.

Purpose and goal

The goal of the project was to demonstrate the viability of screen printing a passive matrix display in large volumes. The goal has been achieved and a demonstrator has been developed showing that the technology has great market potential.

Expected results and effects

This project has led to great progress for passive matrix addressing of printed displays. The possibility to achieve this in a screen printing process and by combining the right types of materials in the pixel structure without using any active or passive components is unique and will facilitate commercialization.

Planned approach and implementation

The following steps were planned: 1. Development of pixels with a sufficient threshold voltage (RISE Acreo AB) 2. Development of printing process (RISE Acreo AB + Rdot AB) 3. Printing of segmented passive matrix addressed display (RISE Acreo AB) 4. Development of driver electronics (Rdot AB) 5. Demonstration of a passive matrix display (Rdot AB) Generally, the project has been implemented according to plan.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
