Important results from the project
The project aimed at initializing the development of a test environment, for use in training of driving techniques and use of machines. The present education, based of using real machines, is highly resources-intensive, and filled with dangerous situations. To achieve employability for our students, the education of driving techniques is essential. The needs analysis remains, strengthened by new insights. The perspective now include high school programs of natural resource management, building / construction and vehicle / transportation. A plan to continue has been developed.
Expected long term effects
New insights into the needs and possibilities of digital solutions in schools have emerged. The perspective to include several training programs in the test environment is based on common needs in education, particularly for road safety for slow-moving machinery as well as ´multi-machine exercises´ in which several machines interact in the workplace. A basis for a comprising network of schools, staff and experts in simulation technology, innovation, road safety, and disabilities has been established.
Approach and implementation
Field trips, meetings, and pilot testing of new digital solutions have been carried out for increased knowledge and awareness of digital solutions among students and staff. These activities have led to discussions about the opportunities and challenges, and initiated a process of development within the organization. Experts have been invited, who have contributed in the project. In the final phase, the work has focused on writing the application for continued funding to establish a testing environment. Leading actors as well as new technologies in the field has been mapped.
