Purpose and goal
The purpose of DSIP is to provide decision support for sustainable product development, to contributes to a better world and increased competitiveness. The goal was to develop a platform with new digital support tools, to be applied early in product development. The result is a digital platform (www.dsip.se) with a methodology and toolbox for sustainable and value-driven design, and a prototype for standardized data management. A plan exists for next steps of DSIP, both with commercial and non-profit values, and several companies have shown interest in such continued development.
Expected results and effects
Increased awareness and knowledge within partner companies: higher priority for sustainability aspects in product development and strategies. DSIP Methodology and digital platform: structure and hands-on tools, enabling more to include sustainability in their processes. Proposal for standardised data: standardization necessary for implementation world-wide. Business plan for DSIP: enabling scale-up and commersialisation. Networking: resulting in new and prosperous collaboration for sustainable products
Planned approach and implementation
Based on industrial use cases at core partners, tools, working methods and data management have been tested in collaboration between solution providers and companies. Insights and issues have been presented to and discussed with the support partner companies. Monthly digital meetings and regular webinars have given all partners the opportunity to follow and contribute to the development. Three project conferences have been arranged, and have strengthened relationships. Weekly meetings in the project management have contributed to steer the project in the right direction.
