Status | Completed |
Purpose and goal
The purpose of the feasibility study has been for Saab and Karolinska Hospital and Department of Pathology and Cytology to create knowledge about how and to what degree Saab image processing algorithms can be used in health care, especially in pathology.
Expected results and effects
With the help of SAAB´s image processing it has been demonstrated that the algorithm has the potential to be applied in health care and be of support for the analysis of pathological specimens - digital pathology. A complete system means that monotonous work done today can be reduced by automatically analyzing samples that today are manually analyzed in the microscope.
Planned approach and implementation
After ethical approval the Department of Pathology and Cytology at the Karolinska Hospital contributed a number of annotated (selected) samples scanned at Karolinska Institutet. The samples were transferred to digital images and then transferred to SAAB for testing the algorithm in the image processing model.
