Purpose and goal

The aim of the project is to create a strong CTS, which develops the cooperation between China and Sweden and strengthens Sweden´s competitiveness in traffic safety. Overall, the goal is fulfilled. During the project, CTS has developed its operations and strengthened the cooperation between China and Sweden. Research projects have been implemented that have contributed to increased knowledge and competitiveness in traffic safety. The project has involved contact with Chinese companies/research institutes and has created additional Swedish interest to participate in CTS.

Expected results and effects

The results of the completed research projects have increased the understanding of vehicle and traffic safety in China, especially with regard to driver behavior and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) as well as possibilities to improve the safety of heavy vehicles. The projects have also contributed to the greater goal of increasing traffic safety in China as well as improving the conditions for intelligent vehicles and traffic systems. The work within CTS provides for new collaborations and is a step on the way to establish further research cooperation with China.

Planned approach and implementation

The research within CTS is carried out in projects with both Swedish and Chinese participants, where project proposals and research plans are jointly formulated. Each project proposal is reviewed by the CTS Scientific Committee and approved by the Board. This setup has worked well and the project work method has resulted in strengthened cooperation between the Chinese and Swedish partners. However, the Board wishes to accelerate the work further and investigates possibilities for CTS to expand regarding content, research projects and parties.
