Status Completed
Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project was to investigate the possibility for developing solutions to increase the cognitive accessibility of digital interfaces. The main solution identified in the project is to develop measurable criteria that can be incorporated into international standards for web accessibility. The feasibility study that we carried out in the project also pointed to the possibility to develop tools that support website owners when it comes to how cognitive criteria should be applied and interpreted.

Expected results and effects

The result of the project is that we have laid the foundations for the development and testing of the criteria and supporting tools for practical application of the criteria. An important result is that we have been able to confirm that there is a demand for both the criteria and the tools, and that the right conditions are in place for the solutions to be spread both in Sweden and internationally.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been carried out by a consortium consisting of Funka, Stockholm University, the Swedish Standards Institute and the National Agency for Special Needs Education. The parties have complemented each other well, which facilitated the work. During the project, we have started collaborations with more users, solution owners and facilitators at Swedish and international level, and have thus laid a good foundation for the development work and the tests in the next step of the project. The project has followed the schedule as planned.
