Funding from Vinnova SEK 400 000
Project duration November 2013 - October 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim is to demonstrate the opportunities of the agricultural sector in the field of bioenergy and biomass production and to provide suggestions on how Sweden can work strategically to reach the area´s stated objectives. In the short-term, the goal is that the area is coordinated and a known area, with a driving function housed in an existing operator. In the medium term, the goal is to decrease emissions, increase the economic development and jobs in agriculture. In the long term, the Swedish agriculture could be self-sufficient and independent of fossil resources.

Results and expected effects

There is a need to highlight the options available, the market needs and to create a common vision of the future on agriculture for development. The farm consists of many small companies and there is currently a lack of collaboration and communication. There is a need to create meeting places, establish conversation groups for exchange of experience. In order to reach out to many players is a need for a common platform / information channel that collects information on new knowledge and needs. We need a network to monitor the Swedish interests and lobby against the European Commission.

Approach and implementation

To get an overview of the area´s invested funds, has a research map for 2012 has been made. The map provides an overall picture of the funding, resources, actors and the type of research that has been an issue in the field of small-scale bioenergy from agriculture. To describe the research needs and other necessary activities / persist, a questionnaire was sent out in spring 2014, to over 100 qualified people for each value chain. Under the project, held May 6, 2014 a workshop at KSLA entitled ´How do you want the agriculture-based bioenergy sector should be developed?´

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
