Purpose and goal
The objective was to design a reimbursement model that facilitates more effective MDT-meetings within prostate cancer and that is reusable for other cancer processes. To be able to implement the result the project proposed a simplified, activity based model that fits within existing reimbursement system and financing. The project has also proposed required changes within processes, organisation and technology. The model is generic, but the implementation depends on local structure.
Expected results and effects
The model and identified prerequisites for processes, organisation and technology are deemed scalable for other types of MDT and regions. The health care professionals judge that the objectives will be met when the model is implemented and the prerequisites are fulfilled. The implementation plan is dependent on the local organisation, financing system and type of health care provider. The expected effects may also vary in different cancer areas, based on the importance of MDT in the care process.
Planned approach and implementation
The scope of the project included contracts, financing, processes, organisation and technology. The following stakeholders were interviewed: Urologists in clinics Onkologists and urologists in hospitals Healthcare administration Processleaders at Regional Cancer Centre The result was analyzed to identify areas for improvement and suggest solutions that are acceptable for the stakeholders. The result was summarized in a report with a plan for regional cancer centre to implement.
