Collaboration in Logistics Operations and Urban Distribution (CLOUD)

Reference number
Coordinator NETPORT SCIENCE PARK AB (SVB) - NetPort Science Park
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 876 003
Project duration July 2016 - October 2018
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The objective of the project was to provide building blocks for the supply chain management spanning door to door operations such as; sourcing, booking and planning of logistics services, in-transit execution management, tracking and monitoring. The project implemented a pilot in the case of Karlskrona-Gdynia which was tested and evaluated. The project goals have led to more efficient logistics and supply chain through the consolidation of goods, integration and synchronization of processes between interested parties and transport resources.

Expected results and effects

CLOUD has made it possible for logistics and supply chains, through the support of integration and synchronization of processes between interested parties, to be able to streamline their freight flows. The evaluated solution enables groups of stakeholders to collaborate, merge their transport volumes and thereby determine the best transport options based on this aggregated volume. In this way, the intermodal transport flows with the aid of the systems in the project have been digitized, optimized and streamlined, leading to less environmental impact.

Planned approach and implementation

CLOUD has been conducted through analyzes of both existing systems and processes. The systems have then been further developed with regard to the intermodal freight flows that participated in the project. CLOUD has also analyzed flows and processes in order to optimize and optimize freight transports. A pilot has been implemented in the Karlskrona-Gdynia case to be able to analyze the effect of the integrated and implemented system.
