Purpose and goal
To conduct an RCT (N=210) to investigate the effects of a new return-to-work intervention, with or without CBT, for sick listed primary care patients with common mental disorders. Patients are randomised to a return-to-work intervention, CBT for their psychiatric disorder, or a combinatorial treatment. This objective has been accomplished.
Results and expected effects
Patients receiving a CBT, with or without the return-to-work-intervention, will make larger improvements in psychiatric symptoms, compared to patients receiving only the the return-to-work intervention. Preliminary results suggest that this is the case. We also expected that sick leave be reduced more in patients receiving the return-to-work-intervention, with or without CBT, compared to patients receiving only CBT. Observed data are in line with this hypothesis, but results are too preliminary for inferential statistical analysis.
Approach and implementation
The study has been conducted completely according to plan.
