Building Services Environmental Innovations - Establishment of Colaboration between Sweden and China

Reference number
Coordinator CHALMERS TEKNISKA HÖGSKOLA AKTIEBOLAG - Institutionen för energi och miljö
Funding from Vinnova SEK 241 000
Project duration November 2012 - August 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project is to carry out the planning necessary to establish collaboration between Chalmers University of Technology, CABR - China Academy of Building Research in Beijing, and Swedish industry partners. The aim is that the parties shall collaborate on scientific research and innovations within the fields of building climatization and energy use. The purpose and aims have been fulfilled since the parties have jointly worked out, and agreed on, a three year project plan for collaborative development of innovative technologies within the focus area.

Results and expected effects

The planning has resulted in applications within the joint VINNOVA/STEM/MOST program ´Int. Cooperation with Actors in China for Eco-Innov. 2013´ (D-Nr 2013-02105). In China, there is strong focus on both particulate air pollution and energy use in the built environment. The main project idea is to adapt and explore the application of novel Swedish air cleaning, monitoring and control solutions in Chinese buildings. The combination and synthesis of Swedish and Chinese technologies provides for strong prospects with respect to introducing Swedish technology on the Chinese market.

Approach and implementation

In the beginning of 2013 Chalmers outlined relevant innovative ideas. Video conferences with the Chinese partner and meetings with the Swedish partners were held. Prioritized needs for research and innovation were identified. During the period 6-14 April Chalmers visited CABR in Beijing, and the basis of a project plan was developed. The efforts resulted in applications within the program mentioned above. Details are given in the VINNOVA application ´Indoor Particulate Matter Pollution - Mitigation, Control and Monitoring by Energy Efficient Innovations´ (D-Nr 2013-02105).
