Purpose and goal
Goal and purpose of the project have been achieved. The project focus was on innovative and effective system development of military systems within the aviation domain, where the fighter pilot decision making often is a bottle neck. Design solutions has been appointed a so called ´brain-budget´, such as time to decision, mental workload ratio etc. Quantitative and qualitative assessments of the pilot decision loop has been developed, demonstrated and evaluated in a development simulator.
Results and expected effects
The project has focused on intelligent systems in aircraft and more specifically HMI and decision support for operators in complex scenarios. The project has developed a method for how HMI-requirements evaluation. The method supports identification of critical situations and description and analysis of them. The method has been implemented in parts of the development process within the industry, and is likely to be further implemented.
Approach and implementation
The project has applied several research disciplines, such as human factors, human-computer interaction and mixed-methods research. The project has been active in the academia-institute-industry cluster for HMI and decision support and been actively cooperating with other NFFP projects.
