Funding from Vinnova SEK 400 000
Project duration December 2013 - November 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to develop the growth initiative Biorefinery of the Future with respect to the ability to generate sustainability driven business cases. By working with realistic cases in a series of training workshops, concrete and relevant knowledge was gained about sustainability-driven business development, for example concerning competitive advantages and business models. Through a broad participation, large parts of the cluster were reached by the project.

Results and expected effects

The project has led to widened and applied understanding of sustainability. This understanding was developed in collaboration between several cluster company representatives. The project has been able to support ongoing development efforts in other projects, where sustainability is an important part of the business model. The pilot project will strengthen the present strategy of the cluster, which is to increase efforts related to commercialization of biorefinery innovations.

Approach and implementation

The project was mainly implemented as a training workshop series and work in teams in between the workshops. The teams formulated and developed business cases for biorefinery products and added green values. The program was designed and led by Goodpoint AB in cooperation with SP Processum. A total of 16 participants from 11 companies took part in the course.
