Analytical instrumentation for the monitoring of students learning processes

Reference number
Coordinator ME ANALYTICS AB - Uddevalla /Göteborg
Funding from Vinnova SEK 600 000
Project duration October 2014 - June 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

To develop an instrument for school staff so that they could use information/data about their pupils learning processes in a more structured manner in order to support school development. The instrument had to be easy to use for teachers and students. The analytical instrumentation would be addressed to management and decision-making units and serve as a support in the development of schools´ systematic quality work. A revolutionary instrument for analysis has been developed to continuously visualize relevant data on the quality of pupils´ learning processes at an aggregated level.

Results and expected effects

The instrument is intended for teams, school leaders and school administrators who want to do meta-analyzes of the school development based on the quality of students´ learning processes. The effect is that leaders at all levels: > can provide better and more adequate response, > can make more appropriate decisions; > more quickly take action when undesirable trends identified, > can develop more adequate indicators, > can organize activities so that the best educational effects are achieved > get a basis that makes it possible to analyze and draw conclusions to make proper decisions.

Approach and implementation

The project has largely followed the original schedule. However, our programmers had to be involved earlier in the process than we originally estimated. This was to more safely determine what is possible to develop based on our app tool LoopMe. We have also spent extra time to ensure that the most appropriate analytical models are being used. Therefore we made the main programming of the analytical instrumentation during the April-June period. The instrument is now ready to be launched in autumn 2015.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
